Melissa D. Dodd


Education:
Dodd is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla.. She was awarded a master of arts in public relations from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., in 2009 and a bachelor of arts in English from Indiana University in 2007. Teaching:
Dodd has taught an array of public relations-focused courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. She recently developed and is teaching a graduate course in public relations and social media. Briefly, her teaching philosophy is based on trust and mutual respect. Dodd has gained public relations and marketing experience through various consulting, temporary, and internship positions. Recent positions of note include consulting positions with Bacardi U.S.A. and the University of Miami's Emergency Management Department. Awards, Grants & Fellowships:
In addition to winning the Brigham Young University Top Ethics Paper award in 2010, Dodd has also been awarded access to the Public Relations Society of America membership for research purposes. She has also been runner-up for two prestigious awards: the Ketchum Excellence in PR Research Award and the Grunig PRiME Research Fellowship, United Kingdom.
